ELEGANT IT INSIGHTS / AI APPLICATIONS

How to validate and
productionise an AI app.

Your prototype works. Before your team or customers rely on it, find out where it could fail, what needs fixing and how you’ll keep it running.

A demo can show that an idea works with the right inputs. A production application also needs to cope with incomplete data, different users and systems that occasionally go offline. That gap matters whether you built the app with an AI coding assistant, commissioned it from a third party or added AI features to existing software.

At Elegant IT, validation means finding where the app is ready and where it still needs work. Productionising means closing those gaps so you can deploy, operate and support it.

1. Review the code and test real workflows

Start with what people will use the app to do. Which tasks are essential? What information will it handle? What happens if it gives an incorrect result or stops halfway through? Those questions help prioritise the code review and set clear acceptance criteria.

We look at how the code is organised, how it stores credentials and data, who can access what, and which external services it depends on. We test representative workflows, including cases the demo may never have seen: duplicate submissions, missing fields and a disconnected integration.

For features that use an AI model, test the output as well as the code. For example, if an app extracts invoice details, what happens when a scan is unreadable? The app should flag the uncertainty and give someone a way to review it before the result is used downstream.

2. Fix the issues that could stop a launch

A review should tell you what to fix first. A confusing label and a permissions flaw both deserve attention, but only one might let a user see another customer’s data. We agree the priorities with you, make the agreed changes and retest the affected workflows.

For release, we also look at how the app is deployed and maintained. Can you test a change away from live users? Will someone know when an integration fails? If a release breaks a key workflow, can you restore service? Agreeing those steps before launch gives your team a plan for when something goes wrong.

3. Choose hosting and plan for ongoing support

Once the app is ready, Elegant IT can host it. Our three monthly infrastructure options are Bronze (£150, shared), Silver (£250, dedicated) and Gold (£400, performance). We review the app and its resource needs with you before choosing a tier. Assessment, remediation, ongoing support and third-party AI or API usage are discussed separately.

After launch, software dependencies and AI models can change. Agree who will investigate problems, apply updates and retest important workflows. Where the agreed assessment criteria are met, Elegant IT can issue a code quality certificate that records the version and scope reviewed.

What to bring to your first conversation

Tell us what your app does, who will use it and what you need it to handle on day one. If you have the source code, a test environment or a list of known issues, those will help us scope the review. We can agree how to share access safely.
